Vespero

About: Vespero

Formed in Astrakhan, Russian Federation band VESPERO (ex-Веспер) began in early 2003 as all instrumental quartet of bassist/keyboardist Arkady Fedotov, violinist Valentin Rulev, percussionist/drummer Ivan Fedotov, and guitarist Alexander Kuzovlev who were brought together by common interest in spontaneous improvisations and psychedelic-fueled music.
In the next few months, the line-up grew to include a female vocalist, with the final addition of Natalya Tjurina, and Arkady Fedotov taking male vocalist duties. In 2004-2006, VESPERO endured several personnel changes, produced a number of self-made recordings featuring Alexei Klabukov on keyboards… and gradually shifted away from the acid-jamming and kraut-rock style to embrace a more prog-rock oriented approach to music drawing inspiration from the avant-garde poetry and theatre-art.

The band's current lineup features: Ivan Fedotov (drums, percussions), Arkady Fedotov (bass, synths, flutes, voice), Alexander Kuzovlev (guitars, electronics), and Alexei Klabukov (synths, keyboards, accordion)

"One listen to this musical outfit from Southern Russia known as Vespero was all it took to make me begin thinking about the great things that must be happening in Russia…" (by Ryan Sparks, Sea Of Tranquility).

"With each new release the Russian band Vespero further reinforce my feeling that they are one of the best instrumental bands on the contemporary Space Rock/Psychedelic scene…" (by Jerry Kranitz, Aural Innovations).

Celestial Bums

About: Celestial Bums

Rock could hardly be just music. It is a range of creative disciplines and outlets. It's music, of course but it's also interpreting, role playing, and thus theater and poetry too. Rock is the perfect medium to intertwine the two true sources of art: The dionisian and the apollinean. What is inebriating, and what is dream-like. When rock is played and interpreted, when musicians don't play or sing, but recite, rock is more than music, it is the ultimate form of art.

Rock is our legacy as Europeans, our outlet to give an escape valve to the most primary of our creative urges. Rock twists you with pain and passions. A relatively new ritual, but that reflects the basic elements of the Greek tragedy.

And it is art that is the ultimate objective of our existence, here and now, the noblest way to express what's on our souls. Sacred ritual and self-realization.

Wheat Fields

About: Wheat Fields

Wheat Fields is a Psychedelic group based in the Blue Mountains Australia. They have released two mesmerizing EP’s on Bandcamp to date and are certainly destined for greater things.

Saturnalia: Released 07 May 2013

Saturnalia was the name of a pagan celebration held in December in ancient Rome, honouring the god Saturn. Likewise, this EP was conceived during a December camping trip on the north coast of NSW; a group of under-20 year old friends with tents at the beach consuming fruit and psychedelics amongst goannas and dingoes.

The second phase of ‘Saturnalia’ began in January 2013. A studio, ‘Shabby Road’, was created in core member Josch Dinjar’s living room, and quickly recording began, punctuated by nude swims and coffee. In DIY spirit, it incorporated MP3 players, strange stereo systems found in sheds, old tape decks, mysteriously customised effect pedals, and mixing techniques that the band virtually ‘made up’. It all makes for one layered, luscious, nostalgic listen.

Composers - Mitch Hunter (Guitars, Bass, Vocals, Synths), Zak Baillie (Guitars, Bass), and Josch Dinjar (Guitars, Drums, Bass, Production).
Live Members - Maddie Harriott (Vocals, Percussion), Glenn Hopper (Organ, Piano, Synth), additional drumming by Harley Dorrell.
Cover Art and Design by Tom Groves

First EP: Heaven Is A Place Where Nothing Ever Happens – Released June 6th, 2012

Mugstar

About: Mugstar

Mugstar are an English rock and progressive rock band, influenced by kraut/psych/space/noise rock such as Oneida, Sonic Youth, Neu! and Hawkwind. Since 2003 they have issued several full length albums, a split release with Mudhoney and an etched 10”. Mugstar recorded the last-ever Peel Session with the late John Peel.

Mugstar formed in Liverpool. Their first single, "Spotlight Over Memphis", drew attention from John Peel, who played the 7" on his radio show. It was after the next 7", "Flavin' Hotrod", that Peel offered the band a Peel Session. A split 7" with Hunting Lodge followed. A mini-album on Kabukikore Records, "Dark Matter", come next, closely followed by a session for BBC Radio One's Huw Stephens. In January 2006 the band released "My Baby Skull Has Not Yet Flowered".

The band's self-titled debut album was released on CD at the end of 2006 on Sea Records, and on Critical MASS Records on a limited run of heavy weight vinyl in 2007. Mugstar then started a productive relationship with Ireland based Trensmat Records with run of limited 7" singles. One of these releases was a split 7" with Seattle's Mudhoney, with both bands doing covers of Hawkwind songs. During this time Red Panda and Mugstar featured on a one-sided 10" single, each performing half of "Tamlin", a song made famous by Fairport Convention.

Mugstar signed to Important Records, who then released "...Sun, Broken..." in March 2010. Their third album, "Lime", was released in November 2010. For Record Store Day 2011 Mugstar contribute a cover of "I Got the Six" by ZZ Top for "I'm So Agitated", a 12" also featuring Carlton Melton, The Heads and Kool Aid, on Agitated Records. "Lime" and "...Sun, Broken..." have both been released through Agitated Records on vinyl in September 2011. These were followed by a split album on Rocket Recordings with New York's Oneida - called "Collisions 2" - and a 40 remix of "Serra" (from "Lime") by Loop's Robert Hampson.

The band's fifth album, "Axis", came out in late 2012.

In April 2013 they performed a radio session for Marc Riley on his BBC 6 Music evening show.

Mugstar are currently signed to Important Records in the US and to Agitated Records in the UK.

Kungens Man

About: Kungens Man

Translated, Kungens Man means “King’s Man”.

Kungens Man are a Progressive, Psychedelic, Trans-rock band from Stockholm Sweden. The number of members vary, but the core of the band is four men in their forties who already paid their debts to society.

Kungens Män is a cosmic music organism transmitting from Stockholm, Tellus.
Wooden soundscapes found in comet dust. Warped human brain waves due to heavy use of electricity. Always battling for peace, deconstruction and paradox.

The current form first appeared on Earth in 2012.

Kungens Män creates psychedelic improvisation within the elements of progressive rock / shoegaze, and free jazz. Some of their inspiration comes from tradition Swedish improv rock such as Träd, Gräs och Stenar, International Harvester, Pärson Sound etc.

Kungens Män is a vehicle for transportation. It is the elevator, the wave, the train of association. The hang out in the pool of noise.

It is the expression of un-responsibility. Kungens Män will always do the wrong thing, play the wrong note, wrong the wrong, wrong. Have no fear, Kungens Man is here!

Aviators

About: Aviators

Who am I?

Well, I’m an independent electronic musician. I pretty much make everything from dubstep to alternative, metal to orchestral. I specialize in vocal songs, which usually take elements from alternative rock and modern electronica. I prefer to cover and combine a wide range of genres instead of fitting into just one. Why settle for one when you can have them all?

I began my musical journey at the age of 4, when I began playing the violin. I played it for 8 years before quitting and moving on to other things. I figured that playing the violin would never get me anywhere in life, but I now realize that it had grown my skills in music theory, as well as teaching me to read music.

I picked up the guitar shortly after quitting violin, and instead of taking lessons I taught myself. Instead of going the typical route of learning chords and such, I just played around with solos and learned to play songs by ear.

In early 2011, I took my first step in music production; I began using a DAW. Garageband was my first one, and it taught me all the basics. I played around with everything I could and pumped out a couple absolutely horrible songs. After months of fiddling with Garageband, I chose to move to a more pro-level DAW. Fruity Loops was my first choice, and I quickly learned that I wasn’t ready for such a big switch. Having no idea what I was doing was a good thing, though… It allowed me to learn quickly by trial and error. I played around with it for a couple months, and I ended up working on what became my debut album, Reflections of a Dream.

And then… Ponies.

If you’ve never heard of bronies, let me explain them to you. They’re teenage/adult men and women who watch My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Simple as that. It may sound odd, but the fantastic production and clever writing of the show caught my eye from the start. In October of 2011, I became a brony. I was a bit ashamed of it at first, but I quickly grew out of that.

Right before the release of Reflections of a Dream in December, I asked The Living Tombstone if he would remix one of the tracks. To my surprise, he agreed. I had been listening to his music since I became a brony, so it was an honor for me to have him remix one of my tracks. After he finished the remix, it began a flood of his fans to my YouTube channel. This was the beginning of my “fan base”, and the fact that it was 99% bronies encouraged me to start making brony music myself.

And I did.

I made brony song after brony song. To this date I make several brony songs a month, along with an occasional non-pony song. I continue to work towards a professional career as a musician, with the hopes of one day being able to make a living making music like I do now.

I’m currently working on my third full-length album titled “From All Sides”, and later plan to continue making brony-themed works under the name “The Sharded”, a duo project with fellow brony artist Bronyfied.

Mayd Hubb

About: Mayd Hubb

From the beginning, awakening a curiosity without border, the theme of travel is for him a scouring inspiration source.

His discography comes like a zoom starting with India in 2007 (“Linga Yoni, The Dub Paradox”), then all around the world in 2009 (“The Blue Train”), until the moon in 2012 with Joe Pilgrim (“Mellowmoon”). As this structure ever widening, his music is characterized by a search space, a mystical experience in the depths of the underground. Constantly pushing the frontier of kinds, he’s creating a recognizable sound, adapted to the power of broadband sound like a shockwave.

In this logic of expansion, contact with public soon became one of the essential point of his creativity. Contrasting with the intimacy of his solo studio work, his live performances reveal a breathtaking energy and run without compromise, accompanied by a massive bass played by Zeuspi. In this respect, we could say that 2009 is revealed as the year of live concretisation. The release of his album “The Blue Train” led him to perform on the internationnal stage, USA, Canada, Europe, amounting him to the rank of unavoidable artists of the French Dub scene.

In 2011, his band TelDem Com’unity released an album “Ground Zero” very welcomed by critics and concert halls. Even today, his life is divided between these two projects, sometimes punctuated by amazing colaborations, espacially with Shanti D (“Politik”) or the label Jarring Effect (compilation JFX 100).

2012 will be the year of many surprises because he released with the singer Joe Pilgrim the ambitious “Mellowmoon”. Dedicated to the moon, this new album turned to the earth on one side and to the stars on the other promises to be a first step towards a much greater dimension. A music from elsewhere for a live all in power, that you will find on stage in March.

Steve Morin & The Higgs Boson Project

About: Steve Morin & The Higgs Boson Project

The Higgs Boson. A title not frequently heard of or talked about amongst the masses. The search for "Dark Matter" and "Dark Energy" that make up more than 96% of our universe. It is the undiscovered particle thought to give matter mass. The God Particle! It is also the name I've chosen for this musical endeavor.Thank you for taking the time to visit and I hope you enjoy your stay! About the Guitar....I borrow these lyrics from the song Discovery,by Rush. "Behind my beloved waterfall, in the little room that was hidden beneath the cave, I found it. I brushed away the dust of the years, and picked it up, holding it reverently in my hands. I had no idea what it might be, but it was beautiful" ... ... "I learned to lay my fingers across the wires, and to turn the keys to make them sound differently. As I struck the wires with my other hand, I produced my first harmonious sounds, and soon my own music! How different it could be from the music of the Temples! I can't wait to tell the priests about it! ..." What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it gives forth a sound. It's got wires that vibrate and give music. What can this thing be that I found? See how it sings like a sad heart. And joyously screams out its pain. Sounds that build high like a mountain. Or notes that fall gently like rain. I can't wait to share this new wonder. The people will all see its light. Let them all make their own music. The Priests praise my name on this night. Welcome to The Higgs Boson Project!

PacificUV

About: PacificUV

Hailing from Athens, Georgia, by way of Augusta, the space rock outfit Pacific UV formed in 1998 under the auspices of Clay Jordan and Howard Hudson. Almost immediately after the duo began mixing song ideas together, drummer and keyboardist Lucas Jensen dove into the mix and the trio began honing their sound and planning their debut album. The group sequestered themselves in the studio with Andy LeMaster (Azure Ray, Bright Eyes) and David Barbe (Uncle Tupelo, Sugar, the Drive-By Truckers) assisting behind the board and cut their debut, finishing it in 2002. Before the album was officially released in September 2003, Jensen left the band to attend grad school and was replaced by drummer Stephen James.

Though the album was eventually released under the title Pacific UV on Warm Records, the initial promotional copies went out to press under the title Longplay One, causing the first item of confusion over the band's history. The second piece of controversy, a purposeful ruse on the part of Jordan and Hudson, came when Pacific UV issued a statement within their promotional campaign which boasted the addition of two brand new mysterious Swedish members, Sven and Piotr. The press, including the All Music Guide, heartily supported this claim as an interesting fact of Pacific UV's history and one even further swallowed the joke when the band announced Sven and Piotr changed their names to Jorge Torres and Shane Davis to sound "more American." While bassist Torres and keyboardist Davis are indeed genuine members of Pacific UV, it shouldn't be surprising that Sven and Piotr never existed in the first place.

The group worked sporadically throughout the coming years, releasing a self-titled EP in 2006 and second full-length Longplay, Vol. 2 in 2008. In the early part of the 2010's the band released a string of free mp3s of new tracks via their blog, and delved into a darker, more electronic sound with their Chrysalis EP. The latest CD “After the Dream You are Awake” was released in the spring of 2013.
