Transcendent Frequencies comes to you from Stockholm Sweden and is the umbrella name that connects the sub-projects of “Silent Caravan”, “Ljusbringare”, and “SC Disco Society”.

The projects cover a spectrum of electronic sounds from relaxing ambient meditative waves of “Ljusbringare” to the energy abundant progressive psychedelic rock landscapes of “Silent Caravan”. All three projects are very different but connect the dots to bring forth a wider expression of Transcendent Frequencies. Musical: Picked out the melody of "Billy Jean" at age 12, borrowed Dad's Jazzmaster, broke the whammy bar in a fit of metal fury, took classical guitar till i got grounded, musically destroyed a garage, moved to Denver, played "The Scene," heard my song was on the radio (denied it), dabbled in jazz till i decided free jazz was funner and more annoying to yuppies, fell asleep for 7 years, woke up, picked up a guitar, picked out the melody to "Billy Jean." Personal: Birthing required forceps, squishy head, craving kraft singles. Grew a chin, fell in love with the desert, eloped to the ocean, dove in and now ive finally come up for air. Stephen Hummel

Stephen Hummel has evolved into an artist that consistently defies expectations. By creating music that ignores genre labels and focuses on emotional weight, Hummel has managed to avoid the pitfalls of trendiness and style-over-substance. Whether producing epic instrumental statements as subtractiveLAD, or (more recently) forging a new path as a singer/songwriter under his own name, Hummel creates music that reaches deep into the listener's psyche. Embraced by independent radio and the blogosphere, Hummel's music has managed to reach a global audience of adventurous listeners, interested in the next chapter that will be added to an already extensive catalogue.

With classical training as both an instrumentalist and vocalist, Hummel began his musical career in the world of improvisational performance, developing a reputation for never performing the same show twice. After a late-90s residency at the now defunct DV8, in downtown Vancouver, Hummel decided to largely abandon live performance while developing his skills as a producer/recording artist. In the early- 2000s, Hummel also began developing software synthesizers for the German audio company, CreamWare, under the mentorship of synth-legend/guru, John Bowen. The subtractiveLAD project was born out of late-night experiments in Hummel's ever growing studio of custom software creations and hardware investments.

After releasing seven diverse and critically acclaimed subtractiveLAD albums for n5MD, Hummel has struck out on his own, pushing the subtractiveLAD sound into new territory, while exploring song-writing and singing, without a moniker. Adding to his creative arsenal, Hummel has reached back to his formal training in the visual arts and introduced photographic, graphic design and video elements to compliment his musical output. By being able to control all aspects of his creative output, Hummel has made his music an increasingly personal and intimate experience for his listeners. With a steady stream of work and an approach that looks to always push his own boundaries, Hummel will continue to keep listeners guessing what direction he will explore next

A wide range composer and performer that doesn’t believe in genres but in music.

My music is for the masses and for individuals. Utopian? No. The problem we face today is the poor musical education of the masses, in the figurative or literal through the labeling applied to artists and their work. All supports a good head, is a statement that I sold long ago.

Today, the musical discussion tends to be poor and capricious, based on anecdotal rather than on technical or conceptual; and even on that basis, poor terms are released in form and substance. But I’m not delving into anything.

The music press is the best example of that aridity in music education. It leads by invoking references or comparisons. Artists are granted identity in this popular form and denied the unknown. That is the great absurdity of the music industry bubble: The vast majority of musicians and music lovers are indoctrinated to label categories, because they are highly permeable and conditioned…But that is not the only Great Cultural Problem; Just Boast of rebellion and all that underlies the natural state of things when submitting music to the social cultural environment and you will find that all preliminary agreements and contacts are out the window.

And for all this I have reached that wonderful point of maturity where you know the drill, distinguish, authenticate…Culture offers a playground game, where you simulate infinite intelligence and virtue but that has never interested me, and so one should really not be interested if one seeks real development, especially when one is figured to be considered socially wrong.

Masic as Expression

Do you really understand what you hear? I ask myself daily, why I do what I do and not what those who judge me do. Judges watch from the sidelines, pretending to participate in Art when they really only repress the impulse that feeds it. They judge and think they can coerce music to their influence.

The artist is not a servant, the artist is one who seeks when filled with wonder and vision and creates without questioning.

All this has been said before and better, I say it because I just need to remember it Everyday, if possible…

Secret Colours revel in being the bastard seed of the '60s psychedelia and '90s Britpop bloodlines. Since their eponymous debut in 2010, the band moved swiftly from neophyte in the Chicago psychedelic-newgaze scene to crusader over the course of unforgettable performances at Austin Psych Fest and Levitation in 2012. Appearances with Night Beats, Ringo Deathstarr, Elephant Stone, Spindrift, Asteroid #4, and The Warlocks, have continued to keep Secret Colours in the hearts and minds of their Chicago faithful, but all the while, they've been hard at work with producer Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Gomez, Sage Francis, Iron & Wine) sharpening the edges of their polychromatic sophomore album, Peach.

The songs from the sleeker collective of Tommy Evans, Dave Stach, Justin Frederick, and Eric Hehr are definitively next level, but are still drenched in the sound that will help you to turn on, tune in, and drop out. Hailing from Athens, Georgia, by way of Augusta, the space rock outfit Pacific UV formed in 1998 under the auspices of Clay Jordan and Howard Hudson. Almost immediately after the duo began mixing song ideas together, drummer and keyboardist Lucas Jensen dove into the mix and the trio began honing their sound and planning their debut album. The group sequestered themselves in the studio with Andy LeMaster (Azure Ray, Bright Eyes) and David Barbe (Uncle Tupelo, Sugar, the Drive-By Truckers) assisting behind the board and cut their debut, finishing it in 2002. Before the album was officially released in September 2003, Jensen left the band to attend grad school and was replaced by drummer Stephen James.

Though the album was eventually released under the title Pacific UV on Warm Records, the initial promotional copies went out to press under the title Longplay One, causing the first item of confusion over the band's history. The second piece of controversy, a purposeful ruse on the part of Jordan and Hudson, came when Pacific UV issued a statement within their promotional campaign which boasted the addition of two brand new mysterious Swedish members, Sven and Piotr. The press, including the All Music Guide, heartily supported this claim as an interesting fact of Pacific UV's history and one even further swallowed the joke when the band announced Sven and Piotr changed their names to Jorge Torres and Shane Davis to sound "more American." While bassist Torres and keyboardist Davis are indeed genuine members of Pacific UV, it shouldn't be surprising that Sven and Piotr never existed in the first place.

The group worked sporadically throughout the coming years, releasing a self-titled EP in 2006 and second full-length Longplay, Vol. 2 in 2008. In the early part of the 2010's the band released a string of free mp3s of new tracks via their blog, and delved into a darker, more electronic sound with their Chrysalis EP. The latest CD “After the Dream You are Awake” was released in the spring of 2013.
