Known for dramatic performances as well as subtle, varied
recordings, Seattle experimental rock ensemble Midday Veil combines intense
vocals and cosmic synths with hypnotic rock grooves to produce music that
rewards careful listening and defies easy categorization.
The band began in 2008 as a collaboration between vocalist
and multimedia artist Emily Pothast and classically-trained pianist / analog
synth head David Golightly. In early 2009, Midday Veil's sound was catalyzed by
the addition of prolific multi-instrumentalist Timm Mason on baritone guitar,
bass, and modular synth. Bassist/guitarist Jayson Kochan joined the band in
2011, and in 2012, Garrett Moore replaced original drummer Chris Pollina. Percussionist
Sam Yoder has also performed and recorded as a member.
Midday Veil's debut studio album Eyes All Around (2010) and
ecstatic improvised cassette releases Subterranean Ritual II (2011) and
INTEGRATRON (2012) established the band as a multifaceted entity with roots in
synth pop, psychedelic rock and free improvisation. Produced by Randall Dunn
and featuring artwork by Robert Beatty, Midday Veil's 2013 studio LP The
Current harnessed the experimental intensity of earlier releases with an
intensified focus on songcraft. The Current found its way onto a number of
year-end lists, including a mention by The Wire as one of the top avant-rock
albums of 2013.
In 2014, the band returned to the studio with Randall Dunn
to record its third LP (and first with drummer Garrett Moore) This Wilderness,
was released in September 2015 on Brooklyn-based label Beyond Beyond is Beyond.
A strong live act, Midday Veil has toured the US regularly
since 2009, notably opening for krautrock legends Faust on a Northwest tour in
2012. Festival appearances have included SXSW, Bumbershoot, 35 Denton, Treefort
Festival, Hypnotikon Festival, LA Psych Fest and Vancouver Psych Fest.

Psychedelic / shoegaze dreamy sound that appeals to conscious seeking music
fans the world over.
Yuri Gagarin are a Progressive, Psychedelic Rock band from
Gothenburg Sweden that formed in 2012. The bands music blends several genres
into one driving force that has garnered them a wide fan appeal across the
shoegaze, psychedelic rock, progressive rock and heavy rock circles.
Their self titled debut album “Yuri Gagarin” was released in
2013 and received high praise by their fans. September 25th, 2015
saw the release of a two song EP titled “Sea of Dust” and it didn’t disappoint
either, as their fans have heaped much praise on this solid emerging band from
Northern Europe.
Yuri Gagarin’s music will remind seasoned fans of the 70’s
iconic trend-setting group “Hawkwind” with their space driving progressive
psychedelic driving sounds. Have a listen and catch the wave!
Refracted Memories is a collaboration between Welsh producer
Michael Wadlow, American producer Jack Morefield, and singer songwriter Jay
Arana.
Refracted Memory - started when Jack asked Mike for help on
a soundscape. The track was to become an album called "The Cares of
Tomorrow". During the next few weeks the two quickly formed Refracted
Memory and created 10 tracks together for a January 2013 release.
As Jack and Mike were doing their thing, Jay, a friend of
Jack was asked to work on a track called “Blood Red Sun”, where Jay added his
acoustic playing and lyrics over their soundscape. Everything fit together
perfectly and turned out to be a truly special track, as did all others
following that. Since then the three have not turned back and have written over
2 albums worth of material. Their debut album together, “Stepping Stones” is
out now on Juno and will soon be released internationally on Aug 21st
2015.

Michael Wadlow - is a producer from Wales who returns to
Electronic Music after 20 years of inactivity. This loving father of 3 and
devoted grandfather of 3 is back with a bang as an iPad exclusive artist whose
soundscape inspired tracks have captured the imagination and he is now one of
only a handful of iPad producers to be signed by several recording labels.
Michael Wadlow continues to push back the boundaries of electronic music and
show the music community just what is possible with the humble iPad!
Jack Morefield - played in a couple of successful cover and
original bands simultaneously in Florida, USA in the late 90's. Citing creative
differences, and frustrated at the inability to maintain a cohesive line up
Jack quit playing live music and moved to Boston in order to start a family and
focus on visual art. Fast forward to 2012 after an iPad gift from his wife,
Jack was able to begin describing the sonic mindscapes that were impossible for
him to define in the past. Jack always kept a hand in music production and
multi-tracking but was amazed to discover the potential for composition using
loops and grid editing. Never straying far from a guitar, he was now able to
create full compositions to play over.
Jay Arana - is primarily a folk/psych folk, Americana acoustic
artist, singer/songwriter. He has
played in a number of successful original bands over the years (post grunge era
in the mid to late 90s, early 2000s) mostly in the Portland, Oregon area. He is a self-taught guitarist and plays by
ear, utilizing a number of alternate tunings that add to the depth of his
sound. A versatile musician that has
influences from a number of genres, he does not stick to one particular style
as he feels the complex emotions that come out through music cannot be
satisfied by one particular style. Something he continually strives for is to
describe life through music, keeping it as visual as possible through the
lyrical/music interaction.
Band Members: Michael Wadlow, Jack Morefield, Jay Arana
Big Red Panda are from the small town of “Ponte de Lima” in
the north of Portugal. The band is made up of five friends that came together
in late 2013 with the idea of creating a musical group that would gather all of
their influences and similar tastes for great music such as Pink Floyd, Kyuss,
Causa Sui, Tool, Tame Impala, Red Fang.
After almost a year of non-stop jams, rehearsals and
recordings, “Big Red Panda” was born, and so was their debut self-titled EP in
2014. The EP is filled with foot-stomping riffs, swooshes, and spacey trips
that will refresh your insides and explode your outsides.
Their music leans towards Progressive Psychedelic influences
and is well on its way to turning a lot of heads in their direction.
July 2015 saw the band release their single “High Ride” to
rave reviews and will be part of their 2nd EP which will be released
later in 2015.
Everything Fades is an alternative rock, dream pop,
progressive psychedelic shoegaze band out of Austin, TX. They’ve been described
as “Swervedriver meets The War On Drugs”.
The group released their debut EP on June 26th,
2015 and looks forward to touring soon.
“Clearly the band “Everything Fades” has produced a solid
effort with their debut 4 song EP “Here’s to a New Tomorrow” with the title
track heading for a top 40 position on World United Music. Here’s a band to
watch moving forward.” ~ Stewart Brennan, World United Music
Psychedelic pop. Blistering garage rock. Fuzzed-out
shoegaze. Free-formed throwback jams. With their amps cranked high and their
voices doused in reverb, Avers brew up their own kind of spacey swirl. It's a
sound that keeps one foot in the past and the other in the present, like some
kind of 1960s time capsule unearthed by a group of 21st century indie kids.
And it sort of happened by accident.
On a summer night in 2013, two Richmond based musicians got
together to talk shop and geek out over psychedelic records. It went well. The
next time, they brought along some additional friends. Before long, a proper
six-piece had formed, with The Head and the Heart's Tyler Williams on drums and
some of the city's best frontmen including James Mason (the Mason Brothers),
James Lloyd Hodges (Farm Vegas), Alexandra Spalding (Hypercolor), Adrian Olsen
(Hypercolor), and Charlie Glenn (the Trillions) swapping their way between
bass, guitar and keyboard duties. Everybody sang, adding harmonies and
background vocals to the band's noisy sweep.
In just over a week, ten songs were written. The music was
ethereal and expansive, with electric guitar riffs that sprawled skyward into
the ether and deep-seated percussion that brought everything crashing back to
earth. Avers recorded everything as they went along, setting up shop at Olsen's
own studio, Montrose Recording. Located on an historic Richmond plantation and
featuring some of the same vintage equipment used by hometown heroes like Sparklehorse
and Brian Harvey, Montrose became the band's official home base, a place where
new sounds could be coaxed out of old instruments.
Tracked live and produced by the bandmates themselves, Empty
Light is a tribute to chance encounters and shared goals. It's the sound of a
young band coming together, blending a plurality of influences the epic sweep
of Spiritualized, the guitar-fueled freakouts of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club,
the cultish crunch of Brian Jonestown Massacre into something singular. It's a
record that invites you to turn on and tune in... but it won't let you drop
out. Empty Light is too rousing for that. ~ Andrew Leahey
The Radiation Flowers, formerly “Powder Blue”, are a
progressive Psychedelic band that hails from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
The sound of elevation throbbed into a vertical sky, The
Radiation Flowers navigate the same sonic playground as influences Spacemen 3,
The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Cure, among many others. Guitar rock for
northern lights and dark side mantras muttered in the drowsy light, these folks
know how to get you off with minimal chords played to maximal effect. Like they
say, "it's a sci-fi-hurricane kinda groove".
Dave Kerzner (aka “Squids”) is a songwriter, producer,
keyboardist and vocalist who is best known for co-writing and co-producing
Sound of Contact’s award-winning concept album “Dimensionaut” and he is also
well known as the founder of the sound production company Sonic Reality. In
addition to Dave’s career as a solo artist Dave is part of several projects
including the UK-based band “Mantra Vega” with Heather Findlay and his fantasy
band/tribute project “Sonic Elements” that combines sampled Sonic Reality
artists with special guests from the Prog World.
Over the years Dave has worked with many artists and
producers ranging from Kevin Gilbert to Keith Emerson and ELP, Steve Hackett,
Steven Wilson, Alan Parsons, Crowded House, Genesis, L. Shankar, Bono and The
Edge, Ginger Baker, Nick Mason of Pink Floyd, Neil Peart of Rush, Jerry Marotta
of Peter Gabriel, Billy Sherwood and Jon Anderson of Yes, David Longdon (Big
Big Train), Rolling Stones, The Who, Durga and Lorelei McBroom (Pink Floyd),
David Kilminster (Roger Waters), Joe Lynn Turner of Deep Purple, Ken Scott
(Beatles, Bowie, Elton John), Hugh Padgham (The Police, Genesis), Heather
Findlay (Mostly Autumn), Nick Davis (Genesis, XTC), Ringo Starr, Bob Siebenberg
(Supertramp), Woody Woodmansey (David Bowie), Sam Phillips, T-Bone Burnett,
Francis Dunnery (It Bites, Robert Plant), Phil Ramone, Billy Cobham, Terry
Bozzio, Rod Morgenstein, Danny Gottlieb of Pat Metheny Group, John Paul Jones
of Led Zeppelin and Them Crooked Vultures, Smashing Pumpkins, Tom Waits,
Barbara Streisand, Madonna, Beyonce, Pearl Jam, Aimee Mann, Jon Brion, Nick
Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush), Allen Sides (Ocean Way Recording), Rik Emmett
(Triumph), John Wesley, Colin Edwin and Gavin Harrison (of Porcupine Tree),
Carmine and Vinny Appice, John Blackwell (Prince), Ed Greene (Steely Dan),
Alastair Greene (Alan Parsons Project), Russ Parish (Steel Panther), Toss
Panos, Corky James, Nick D’Virgilio (Tears for Fears, Genesis, Big Big Train,
Spock’s beard) and others.
After many years working in sound design and production with
SR and as a keyboardist with other artists, Dave decided it was time to take
center stage as lead vocalist and put out his first Progressive Rock album as a
solo artist.
---------------------------------------- Review of Dave Kerzner’s album “New World” by: Stewart
Brennan, World United Music
“New World” by Dave Kerzner is a brilliant progressive rock
album filled with impacting lyrics and music filled with imagery that captures
the listener from start to finish. The entire album is a wonderful blend of
artistic expression that weaves written word and music into an experience you
can feel and see by sound. “New World” is the Awakening.
*Track 01 – “Stranded (Parts 1 to 5)” - Rolls in like a sea
of consciousness that swells in imagery and melodic harmonies to capture the
imagination and engage the listener on an inner journey. The lyrics are
brilliant and very memorable as they reflect the thoughts of an awakened mind, but
what strikes me most is how the music conjures up the setting before the lyric
confirms it in its telling. “Stranded” is simply brilliant in every way.
Track 02 – “Into the Sun” – Pulls the listener into the
unfolding story but also into the listeners own reflection of life. Again the
lyrics are image filled as the music carries the story further into ones own
consciousness.
Track 03 – “The Lie” – The story unfolds and sees the main
character facing up to the lie’s of the world he embraced as he begins to
confront the prospects of its reality.
*Track 04 – “Under Control” – Both the lyrics and music are
infectious and memorable as the story continues to unfold where the main
characters consciousness awakens to find that he is a puppet under control by a
malevolent world.
Track 05 – “Crossing of Fates” – an instrumental interlude
of reflection with classic progressive rock interpretations.
*Track 06 – “My Old Friend” –The Awakening begins to unfold
as the main character’s inner self faces his alter manufactured self and breaks
free. Here again we witness the magic of music and lyric intertwined to allow
one to feel and see the story through music. A true awakening in every sense.
Track 07 – “Ocean of Stars” – Reflections of life left
behind in the mechanical world as the awakened soul can never go back to seeing
life in the same way again.
Track 08 – “Solitude” – a wonderful instrumental with vocal
harmony in musical reflection.
Track 09 – “Nothing” – Upbeat music expresses The awakened
soul that gladly takes the drivers seat to push out the mechanical world as the
reality of letting go to move forward makes the only sense.
*Track 10 – “New World” – Complete understanding of how
shallow and empty the old world is and that a better world is possible if
everyone could just awaken, see the reality and let go of the illusion.
*Track 11 – “Redemption (Stranded Parts 6 to 10)” – The
finally of the awakening where the main character realises that everything in
life was a lesson and experience learned on a journey that goes ever on…
There’s an attraction to Dave Kerzners “New World” album
that resonates and creates a bond between the music and my own reflections of
life, and I’m sure many others will say the same. “New World” is already a
classic in my mind.
When encouraged to pick a favourite line from the album, I
found it quite difficult because the entire album was an awakening in itself
that filled the imagination right up to the borders of infinity…although…”We’ll
trace our steps back to the dawn of what is right and wrong” resonates and
brings to mind the image of the “Global Awakening” taking place in our world
today.
”New World” is a great album with a wonderful
cast of musicians that really does bring the possibility of a New World into
reality. The album also signifies a Re-Awakening and the Re-Emergence of
Progressive Rock into the spotlight…Bravo!! “New World” is truly a Brilliant
concept album that I highly recommend to all music fans. ~ Stewart Brennan,

Race to the Sea is the musical guise of Dan Peacock,
Manchester-based songwriter and instrumentalist.
The project began a few years ago as a full band of the same
name, with Peacock providing the song writing, vocals and guitar for a series
of acclaimed gigs on the Manchester circuit. When the band split, he took off
on a trip across the world, seeking adventure and unwittingly gathering
material for the next project. Living in a seaside house on the other side of
the world, he found a guitar and began writing what would become the new songs
for the new Race to the Sea. These songs are abstract yet personal, with ideas
taken from snapshots of a life on the move, and both lyrics and melodies crafted
from half-remembered images: memories of the sea, the desert, the forest and
the mountains.
In the studio, Race to the Sea’s songs are heavily layered
and atmospheric, with textured guitars, synths and percussion. Live shows range
from stripped-back acoustic guitar versions, to looped and effected
orchestrations, and, more recently, the inclusion of full live percussion and
bass.
2013 was a year packed with local headline gigs: supports
for Badly Drawn Boy, The Magic Numbers, Mark Morriss and Rebekka Karijord, and
a sold-out EP launch at the Castle Hotel. All this led Manchester Evening News
to name Race to the Sea as 'One to watch'. Here's what they said:
'Race to the Sea's talent for delicate folk song craft is
equally matched by his grasp of experimental, shoegazey atmospherics. With his
soulful, breathy vocals, quietly strummed acoustics and judicious use of
effects pedals, he’s a one-man indie-folk orchestra, creating music of
considerable shape and texture, but with an intimacy and emotional heft that
sometimes feels like he’s singing directly into your ear. The missing link
between Lost Souls-era Doves, Nick Drake and Cocteau Twins; you don’t so much
listen to these songs as allow them to soak blissfully into your synapses.
Ghost Pop,
Shoegaze duo from New York. Chris Stoddard (songwriter/guitars)and Samantha
Ritter (vocals/keyboards) formed in early 2014 to record their debut EP,
Phototaxis. Look for them to promote the album with shows in the autumn of
2014.
2016 June: New Music and Album Release June 24, 2016 ~ Glimmer Down ~
Chris Stoddard and Samantha Ritter continue to impress with
their second release “Glimmer Down”. The 7 song album continues the Dream Pop
journey with a shoegaze / progressive blend of vocals and sound which captures
the imagination from the very first song on the album “Fine Machine”.
“Glimmer Down” allows the listener to take a moment out of a
hectic day and enter a peaceful realm of atmospheric dream like music…an escape
into consciousness where the mind is at peace and contentment.
Imagine, if you
will, that something has gone terribly wrong. Beneath the incessant, howling
wind from the barren terrain beyond, the only discernible sound, the rhythmic
gasp for breath from your own parched throat. Scanning the distance, mirages
dance like radiation on the horizon. Can you believe everything you see? Though
prophets had long foretold, you cannot help but mourn the mark of time, the
metronome of human history that shadowed your former existence. Now, with
stumbling step you must unclench white-knuckled fists and begin to travel,
never forgetting the shadowy night of the past but willing to risk this primal
step into the light of day.
Bent equally on bristling psychedelic squall and driving motorik, Verma emerged
in the wake of an experimental improvisational collective. Blending a wide
range of influences from proto-metal, minimalism, electronic, space rock and
drone, the group constructs and explores cinematic sonic landscapes. Verma is
amoebic in nature, coexisting with the mechanical. The driving rhythm section
creates a solid architecture for swirling guitars and haunting vocal melodies,
all beneath a haze of sweeping synthesizers. This repetitive dervish of sound
rises from dark roots to a meditative plane, at once the atmosphere of
metamorphosis and cerebral introspection.
The group, based
in Chicago, released two cassette tapes in 2010. The first self-titled release
(Plus Tapes, 2010) offers a mix of improvised first takes recorded to cassette
in their practice space. The second, Salted Earth (Priority Male, 2010),
features tracks from their live set recorded at Pieholden Suite Sound.
"Heavy winding psychedelics Mt. Mountain formed in mid
2012 in Perth, Western Australia. The release of a well-received demo ‘Omed’ in
2013 and their debut self- produced EP “EP” in 2014 has led to the winning of
the 2014 WAM “Breakthrough Artist” award and international/national support
shows and tours with the likes of Om, Bardo Pond, King Gizzard & The Wizard
Lizard, Stonefield and Earthless." Straight off the back of our mid 2014 EP release,
We've spent the later half of the year back in the studio writing and recording
our debut full-length album. December 1 brings a brand new single
"Chantry" from the upcoming album recorded by roderick Madden-Scott
& Jeremy Beste at Fremantle Recording Studios. The new single will also be
the second vinyl release from the band pressed alongside another new track on a
very limited edition 7 Inch that will be launched on December 19 at Mojos Bar
Fremantle. Band Members:
Steve Bailey - Vocals
Derrick Treatch - Guitar
Glenn Palmer - Guitar
Brendan Shanley - Bass
Thomas Cahill - Drums
Screen Vinyl Image is formed by ex-members of DC shoegazer’s
Alcian Blue and are a part of the Virginia shoegaze scene (Ceremony, Skywave,
Alcian Blue, The Offering). Their music is a combination of Electronic
Psychedelic and Shoegaze, with influences that range from early electronic
artists like Tangerine Dream and John Carpenter to recent electronic artists
like Rude66 and Legowelt, to shoegaze/ psychedelic bands like Curve, The Jesus &
Mary Chain, Loop, Suicide, and My Bloody Valentine.
The band tours constantly and has shared the stage with
Ulrich Schnauss, Auburn Lull, The December Sound, A Place To Bury Strangers, A
Sunny Day in Glasgow, Adam Franklin and recently did a tour in Japan with their
label mates Ceremony. Their live show is often compared by many to Suicide and
My Bloody Valentine both in volume levels and intensity and their DIY visuals
combined with 2,100 watts of strobes take their audience into a trip of sensory
overdrive.
Screen Vinyl Image have released a 5-song EP (The Midnight
Sun), a single (Chaser), a split 12 inch (Ceremony/SVI), their debut full
length Interceptors, and are releasing in 2010 a 12 inch of remixes (May 2010),
the Siberian Eclipse 7 inch on Fan Death Records (June 2010) and the Too Much
Speed 7 Inch (summer 2010) on Custom Made Music.
Their albums present a full gamut of the band’s influences,
from atmospheric synths, dancy electronic beats, tripped out drones over
hypnotic samples, and of course layers of fuzz and guitar over slamming beats.
