Gareth Icke

About: Gareth Icke

Gareth has just finished writing his third album, and has recorded the opening single, ‘Get your love on’ at Studio 5a, on the Isle of Wight.

He is touring the new material single across the UK, before releasing the single to coincide with his second Wembley Arena performance, in October.

Gareth’s second album, A Brand New Battle, was released by Manchester based label, Eromeda Entertainment.

The first single off the album, titled ‘Remember Who You Are’ was greatly received and has already racked up almost 200,000 hits on You Tube.

So far in 2013, he performed at the Isle of Wight Festival, where he was approached to perform on The Voice, an ITV Music talent show. He turned it down and instead, embarked on a 14 date tour of the Scottish Islands.

“Gareth Icke is a talented young singer/songwriter who writes well crafted songs of deep intelligence and sensitivity who has been making a name for himself on the grass roots circuit.” John Robb, Louder Than War

“This man has the world in his hands, and I for one wouldn’t count him out of world domination, he is that good.” Sonic Observer

“The post punk pop (of Remember who you are) is a well produced showcase of Icke’s talent as a songwriter, not only is the melody one that wouldn’t sound out of place on national radio but the song is musically quite playful, employing pauses, breakdowns and a bridge that Coldplay or U2 would be proud of.” Vectis Radar

A bitter sweet album full of emotion and thought provoking lyrics, Gareth proves here that he is a major emerging songwriter, his music can stand up against the biggest names in the industry.Cool Manchester

A Brand New Battle was recorded on the Isle of Wight at Studio 5a.

In 2012 Gareth played the Bestival, the Isle of Wight Festival, and a massive 6000 people sell out show at Wembley Arena.

He has struggled to tour until the summer, after suffering a horrendous double broken leg while playing football. After surgery and months of rest, Gareth is ready to get back on the road.

Gareth was a founding member of the rock band Kody. He played several tours and Festivals across the UK and also, a two week tour of America where the band achieved a large amount of their success. The band split and Gareth became a solo artist in 2008.

In December 2009, he released his debut album ‘It gets worse at night’ through Icon Records. The 10 track album was recorded and produced by Dan Swift (Kasabian, Snow Patrol, Aqualung) and received great reviews upon its release.

The album was released on iTunes, Amazon, Play etc all across the World.

“his voice is both soothing and plaintive and moves most powerfully when the music falls back into the quietude of simple guitar picking for accompaniment; creating the kind of ambivalent tension reminiscent of a Lord Byron poem or a David Sedaris essay. Even when he’s singing about the kind of loneliness that gets worse at night, there’s a strange hopefulness in his voice that reassures things will all work out alright in the end.” - Jasmine Anderson , Biocritics.

“The problem with being a failed musician is that whenever you find yourself listening to pure talent you feel jealous and perhaps a little nauseous as you realise that you’ll never be that good. As a failed musician, when I listen to Gareth Icke, I feel like I’m in the throes of death…..but it’s a happy death.” - Alex Baker, KERRANG!

Gareth has toured tirelessly over the past few years taking him as far a field as the USA. He has played Top festivals including The Isle of Wight festival, Norway’s Quart Festival, The Festival Scene Des Brassage & Festival Sors De Chez Toi, both in France, as well as many UK tours.

The records opening track, ‘It Feels Like A Race’ was championed by radio stations all over the Country including Kerrang Radio, BBC 6 Music and Steve Wright’s Afternoon show on BBC Radio 2. The songs music video has now reached over 65,000 youtube hits.

Gareth was regularly headlining top London venues such as the Borderline, South of the Border and The Barfly. In 2010, Gareth completed a national UK tour, a ten date tour in Germany and played two great festivals in France. He also completed his 4th Liberty Tour along with Alan Frew and Jono. The Liberty Tour is a collective of the best independant acoustic artists. It puts them together and sends them out on tours across Britain and Europe.

Burning Jet Black

About: Burning Jet Black

In the future, robots will perform all the music we listen to. Thumping bass and electronic blips will destroy all the pure emotion and visceral experience of the music we once knew. Meanwhile, in the here and now, Burning Jet Black is fighting hard against this automatic (re)/(de)volution. Fingers dancing on the fretboard, legs shaking on the kick drum...and sweat dripping off their brows, and the genuine heat of the crowd. This is music with a pulse...and the heart to keep it beating.

"While your friends are growing up and taking vows, you're still giving all your body will allow..." is the declaration that ignites Magazine Girl, their first single. An apt observation of the tragic heroine of the song and of Burning Jet Black themselves. The industry is that model past her prime, desperately whimpering for your attention, but not offering anything in return. This band, however, is offering something real, something that screams for you to be immersed in it, and they're on the fast ascent, keeping in mind: "We come TOGETHER, or we fall apart.”

Assuming it would be possible to start over again, knowing all the things you know now, would be a no-brainer. The band functions with this hypothetical ethic; only using the experience of the past to look forward, instead of back. Comprised of David Bloomfield (guitar), Wes Hall (drums), Rob Hughes (bass), and David Sparrow (vocals, guitar), you get a band that clicks. You'll hear it, it will sink down into the depths of your soul, and then you'll know. Burning Jet Black is alive and kicking and they will not quiet down.

The Struts

About: The Struts

A UK-bred band full of reckless swagger and hugely catchy hooks, the Struts are returning the sweet and dirty spirit of glam to modern rock & roll. Having already taken Europe by storm with such feats as opening for the Rolling Stones before a crowd of 80,000 in Paris last year, the newly L.A.-based four-piece is now breaking through to American audiences with their exhilarating debut EP Have You Heard.

With their glitzy-yet-scrappy aesthetic—not to mention frontman Luke Spiller’s snarling vocals and otherworldly range—the Struts might seem to have stepped straight out of the ‘70s. But as proven on lead single “Could Have Been Me” (a thrillingly anthemic track that’s racked up more than two million plays on Spotify and shot to the top ten on Modern Rock radio charts), The Struts fuel their high-powered sound with an urgency that’s entirely of the moment.

On Have You Heard, Spiller and bandmates Adam Slack (guitar), Jed Elliott (bass), and Gethin Davies (drums) match their super-sharp melodies and bright and shiny guitar riffs with a lyrical sensibility both heartfelt and brash. Made in collaboration with the likes of Gregg Alexander (a producer/songwriter and former frontman of the New Radicals), the EP kicks off with “Could Have Been Me” and unleashes a surge of raw energy that never lets up. With its driving rhythm and chant-along refrain (“I wanna taste love and pain/I wanna feel pride and shame/I don’t wanna take my time/I don’t wanna waste one line”), the arena-ready track finds the Struts staking their claim for glory while inspiring every listener to do just the same.

From there, Have You Heard slips into “Kiss This,” a breakup song that forgoes the minor-chord moping for gritty guitar and fantastically scathing lyrics ("I did all I could/So kiss this one more time ‘cause I'm gone for good"). “‘Kiss This’ was inspired by a relationship breakdown/meltdown,” says Spiller. “It’s about being cheated on, but the message is really about standing up for yourself—sort of our version of a ‘Young Hearts Run Free’-type song, but in a rock mentality.”

On “Put Your Money on Me” (recorded with Alexander during a road trip from Darby to the south of Spain, in a van filled with “lots of booze and lots of stories,” as Spiller puts it), the Struts let loose with hip-shaking rhythms and a soulful groove. And closing out Have You Heard is “Where Did She Go,” a lovesick but infectiously stomping epic that first came to life when Spiller was just 15. “My parents had just moved to this horrible seaside town, which wasn’t a great place to be if you’ve got long hair or you’re just an individual in any way,” he recalls. “One night I was walking home quite drunk and started singing to myself, as you do, and this melody eventually came to me. I remember thinking, ‘What kind of melody could you get a whole football stadium full of people to sing along to?’, and then going from that. I sang it to myself the whole way to keep it in my head, and then I got home and wrote it all down.”

The founding members of the Struts, Spiller and Slack each began making music as teenagers, initially finding inspiration in groups like Oasis and the Libertines and then tracking their idols’ influences to discover the classic glam bands that would one day shape their own sound. Introduced by their mutual manager after the dissolution of their previous bands, the two had an instant creative chemistry and quickly began writing together. “When we first started, we both just wanted to make fun, happy rock songs with big choruses—the kind of thing that bands like Slade and T. Rex used to do,” says Slack. Once Elliott and Davies were added to the lineup, the four moved into a house together in Derby and soon found themselves a name. “We were in rehearsals and someone saw me strutting around as we were playing, and made the suggestion that we call ourselves the Struts,” says Spiller. “We loved that from day one—it absolutely represents what we’re about.”

Largely on the strength of their electrifying live show, the Struts fast built up a major following and started selling out shows all across Europe. Along with landing the Stade de France gig with the Rolling Stones, the band took the stage at the 2014 Isle of Wight Festival, with Spiller decked out in a shimmering-blue cape custom-made for him by Zandra Rhodes (the legendary designer who formerly created costumes for Queen’s Freddie Mercury and Brian May). In the meantime, the Struts kept on honing their songcraft and developing new material, forging a sound that gives a nod to their glam roots and ultimately revamps the genre for a whole new era. “It’s cool to think of kids hearing this kind of music for the first time, and then going back and getting into that same rock & roll that we fell in love with,” notes Slack.

Now at work on following up Have You Heard with a full-length album, the Struts are also in the midst of their first stateside tour, having added more dates and upgraded to bigger venues in response to their rapidly growing fanbase. As in the studio, the band aims to infuse their live performance with plenty of passion and flash. “We’re not afraid to go out there and really put on a show, get everyone in the crowd involved,” says Slack. And in that building that connection, the Struts aspire for nothing less than blissed-out transcendence. “I don’t see any other point of going to a rock show than to really get into the music and lose your inhibitions,” says Spiller. “When we’re up onstage we try to bear that in mind, to push the audience and get up close with them and challenge any self-consciousness they might be feeling. We want to do what we can so that everyone can let go and just have a great time.”

Two Wounded Birds were an English rock and roll band, formed in Margate, Kent, in 2010. The band consisted of Johnny Danger (vocals, guitar), Ally Blackgrove (bass), Joe Stevens (guitar) and James Shand (drums). The band's sound had been compared to The Tornado's, The Beach Boys, The Velvet Underground, Link Wray, and Phil Spector. In January 2011, Two Wounded Birds released the EP Keep Dreaming Baby. The Unsatisfied

About: The Unsatisfied

The Unsatisfied- raw, high energy rock & roll meets dangerous punk rock with precision. A complete package; a genuine American punk act with so much power and spectacle on stage it's like being hit by a rock and roll lightning bolt.

Formed in 1986 by frontman Eric Scealf, this true blood and glitter operation has toured for many years across the southeast and beyond, sharing the stage with such luminaries as The Misfits, Sylvain Sylvain (New York Dolls), Cheetah Chrome (Dead Boys), Dave Brockie Experience (GWAR), The Murder Junkies, Superdrag, Asphalt Blaster, Georgia Satellites, and Nashville Pussy. They’ve also toured multiple times with HBO’s Real Sex “most dangerous rock band”, The Impotent Sea Snakes.

Playing everywhere from the hallowed stage of CBGB’s in New York, to performing for free at southern skate-parks for underage fans, The Unsatisfied always serves up healthy portions of faith and fire for punk rock aficionados.

"Songs the Belt Taught Us" is the latest full length release from The Unsatisfied. It was recorded at Revolution Sound with Mike Pack engineering and helping the band produce. The album was completed at Chase Park Transduction in Athens, GA with mixing by David Barbe (Bob Mould, DriveByTruckers) and mastering by Drew Vandenberg (WidespreadPanic, DriveByTruckers). "Songs the Belt Taught Us" was released April 27th 2011. It has since been lauded by reviewers as one of the "best rock albums of the year...". "Songs the Belt Taught Us" is featured on Pandora iHeartRadio and Spotify.
The band's latest release is titled "Blood Gospel". It is a stand-alone single available for free download via The Unsatisfied website www.theunsatisfied.com .
The Unsatisfied is not your average rock band. They may be hard, but they’re more rhythmic than James Brown and embody the sensuality of Prince. It’s punk rock infused with jazz beats and sexual angst, you owe it to yourself to see The Unsatisfied live. Prepare yourself for the Southern music scene's most whispered dirty secret, The Unsatisfied…

BiPolar Rats

About: The BiPolar Rats

Our genre varies! We like to paint ourselves with the Alternative brush as our common influences stem from the punk/indie/rock genres. We have a combination of hard hitting punk tracks mixed in with the more introspective acoustic and melodic tracks.

'The biPoLar Rats' was formed in Cape Town in Dec 2009. Andrew and Allan got together to play, write and record their brand of music. Candice was hauled in (kicking, biting and scratching) to perform bass duties.

9 months later, what seemed like a million hours of practicing scales and chords, and lots of heated discussions about song choice, we recorded 'fateful coincidence'. Produced on a very tight budget and 5 sunday afternoons in a back room, 'fateful coincidence' is the culmination of the union.

It's April 2012, the recording for our second album 'ten seconds of paranoia' is done and dusted and to be released in June/July 2012 when the mastering is complete.

We're amp'd to get our music to you, live and in your face..especially now that drummer Brian Aylwin has joined The biPoLar Rats!

The Naked Hearts

About: The Naked Hearts

"Proving once again that downtown New York City is still the world's greatest incubator for awesome rock music, along come dynamic duo known as Naked Hearts. The twosome of Amy Cooper (guitar and vocals) and Noah Wheeler (bass, drums, and vocals) have done things the good old-fashioned way by playing lots and lots and lots of shows in tiny clubs and bars all over the city.

In less than a year after forming, the band had already managed to establish itself as a formidable live act and a songwriting force to be reckoned with. Two-piece bands might be all the rage now, but Naked Hearts put a fresh spin on things, crafting songs that are equal parts tough and sweet." - Soundgirl

"Live and in person, Naked Hearts are explosive, charming, and something exciting. The impeccably turned-out pair ooze a fuzzy rock sincerity; every song is a stripped-down challenge to cut loose" - PopMatters

"Then there are the enthusiastic newbies Naked Hearts, who explore the various ways in which a boy/girl duo can make you dance, fall in love, and cry all at the same time." - Interview Magazine

"The skillfully shaded indie-rock band Naked Hearts has an impressively versatile sound, partially due to the fact that members Amy Cooper and Noah Wheeler take turns singing lead" - Time Out NY

"...to ignore this band would be to ignore what is going on in New York these days. This band has catapulted themselves into a New York spotlight thanks to their streamlined sound and constant playing throughout the city." - Pop Tarts Suck Toasted

The Hooks

About: The Hooks

In search of new thrills, Keith & Ronan Mulligan left Ireland for San Francisco, all the while missing both the economic upturn and subsequent downturn.

A dodgy rehearsal space in the Tenderloin furnished The Hooks with inspiration for an album in 2010. Recorded by friend and mentor Jamie McMann at Hyde Street Studios. The album “Everything Is Golden” received wide acclaim and secured us a European Tour.

What followed were countless tours of the US, playing with such notables as X, The Pogues, Shane MacGowan, Flogging Molly, The Stiff Little Fingers and Cheap Trick to name a few.

Here and 3 records later is where they met Colin, Chet and Lance. We are currently working on the follow up record, soon to be recorded at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley.

The Rudeness

About: The Rudeness

The Rudeness was originally conceived while the band toured the Mid-West on Warped Tour a few years back.

At the time, The Rudeness were a full on Pop/Punk band called M-80. That band accomplished plenty, including national touring, national distribution, national publishing deals and a huge fan base, all of which were gained as an independent artist. Their releases “Put Down The BB Gun” and “Don’t Take It Away” are still available.

The boys were feeling tired of playing Pop/Punk and looking to get back to their musical roots. Having all come from the coastal region of Rhode Island, Reggae and Ska are a huge influence on their musical taste.

Rhode Island has a little known hot spot where surfers go to listen to Reggae and Ska music. It's a bar called the Ocean Mist and it sits right on the Atlantic Ocean. There is a point break just beyond the back deck of the bar. You’d think you were in Hawaii if you stumbled in there and you might see the likes of Eek-A-Mouse, Buju Banton or Sizzla performing on any given night. That club holds the sound and the true spirit of what The Rudeness are about.

The Band is currently on hiatus, working on other projects.

Patrick Sweany

About: Patrick Sweany

Patrick Sweany likes the spaces in between.

On a given night (or on a given album) he'll swing through blues, folk, soul, bluegrass, maybe some classic 50s rock, or a punk speedball. He's a musical omnivore, devouring every popular music sound of the last 70 years, and mixing 'em all together seamlessly into his own stew. Yet, the one thing that most people notice about Patrick isn't his ability to copy - it's his authenticity. Like his heroes, folks like Bobby "Blue" Bland, Eddie Hinton, Doug Sahm, Ray Charles, Patrick somehow manages to blend all of these influences into something all his own.

It's no wonder that as a kid he immersed himself in his dad's extensive record collection: 60s folk, vintage country, soul, and, of course, blues. Patrick spent hours teaching himself to fingerpick along to Leadbelly, Lightnin' Hopkins, and other folk-blues giants.

In his late teens, Patrick began playing the clubs and coffeehouses around Kent, OH. He quickly gained a reputation for the intricate country blues style he was developing: part Piedmont picking, part Delta slide - with an equally impressive deep, smooth vocal style.

It wasn't long before Pat drew the attention of other notables like Jimmy Thackery who was impressed enough to bring Pat on the road, and Roy Book Binder, who, after hearing Patrick's self-released debut CD I Wanna Tell You, arranged his first appearance at Merlefest in 2002. Book Binder also turned his longtime friend Jorma Kaukonen on to Patrick's music, landing Pat a perennial slot at the legendary Fur Peace Ranch alongside guitarists like GE Smith, Marjorie Thompson, Bill Kirchen and Bob Margolin.

But Pat wouldn't stay in the acoustic world for long. His love of 50s era soul and rock fused with the adrenaline-soaked garage punk revival happening throughout the Rust Belt pushed Pat to form a band.

After 3 critically acclaimed CDs (the last two produced by longtime collaborator Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys), Patrick has expanded his touring radius to 49 states and the UK. He's played premiere festivals all over the U.S., and supported national acts such as The Black Keys, The Gourds, The Wood Brothers, Sonny Landreth, Hot Tuna, and Paul Thorn on tour.

His latest record, That Old Southern Drag, hits the streets February 15, 2011. It was recorded to 2" tape in Nasheville, TN (Patrick's new home) and features contributions from Joe McMahan (Allsion Moorer, Webb Wilder, Mike Farris), Scott McEwan (Tarbox Ramblers), Tim Marks (Will Kimbrough, Taylor Swift), and Chris West (The Dynamites), among others. Southern Drag expands Patrick's roots music palette without losing his signature Deep Blues sound.
