Spaceship Days

About: Spaceship Days

The roots of the Chapel Hill, NC, alterna-pop band Spaceship Days began in a North Carolina State University dorm room when three teenage swimmers (including Bassist Chuck Cox and Guitarist/Keyboardist Greg Torsone) met and—inspired by the local Raleigh shows they frequented as fans—decided to start a band. Despite having no instruments, much less the skills to play any of them, the trio formed their first band, grey., in college.

In 2009, Chuck and Greg broke away to form the artistically matured Spaceship Days and released a pair of albums independently. The second, entitled Black Holes & Butterflies, earned them Best Pop Artist in the 2011 St. Helier Cider Online Music Awards and Best Pop Act in the Los Angeles-based 2012 Artist in Music Awards. Shortly thereafter, their vocalist and longtime collaborator left the band.

Enter Adam Lee Decker. He took over vocal duties fresh from his return from becoming a Top 40 finalist on the popular show American Idol. Decker had previously been a Top 10 contestant on America’s Got Talent with his vocal group, Fault Line, in 2007. The chemistry was immediately apparent, and after a successful string of West Coast shows, including an electrifying performance at the legendary Roxy Theater in Hollywood, the band returned to Torsone’s own Afterglow Studio to work on their third offering, The Thrill of Freefall.

Just as the EP was completed, the band met seasoned scene veteran and multi-instrumentalist Dave Kress through a chance encounter on Twitter. Dynamic and passionate about his craft, he was happily welcomed into to the fold to complete the band as the drummer.
Armed with an engaging blend of slick, catchy, pop/alternative music, crisp production, and mature songwriting, Spaceship Days is a band for any music lover.
