Patriark

About: Patriark

Patriark is an up and coming alternative rock band from northern Sweden. Drawing most influences from the post-Britpop movement of the late 1990s and mixing it with a 1960s Beatlesque tone, the band summarizes it with their own interpretation of modern arena rock. Session guitarist Georg Wadenius (Blood Sweat & Tears, Saturday Night Live Band, Aretha Franklin, Steely Dan) admired their sound claiming Patriark to be a “new” Spencer Davis Group.  Although Patriark certainly has been influenced by the 1960s-era, bands like Oasis and Coldplay has been their key influences since the start in 2009.

The name ‘Patriark’ is controversial; many led to believe it’s a statement of the Patriarchy. However the name derives from Zen-Buddhist leaders who communicate through meditation.

Patriark won the biggest music-competition in Sweden 2011 (Musik Direkt)
