Good
music often provokes thoughts of the past within to bring us back in time to
places, faces and atmosphere of moments we hold in our memories…and While our
minds are carried away by the music, we also process thoughts and moments to
help make sense of where we were, where we are and where we are going in life.
Today’s episode offers an awesome lineup of artists with songs that examine
some of those thoughts and some of our questions to life, featuring; Old Sea Brigade, Lonely Robot, Parker BOMBSHELL, Dave

Atlanta
raised and Nashville based singer songwriter Ben Cramer is “Old Sea Brigade” who
starts off this week’s episode with the title track to his January 2017 EP
“Wash Me Away”. A song that questions our living in the fast lane and how we might
view our lives 20 years down the road when we begin to look back at what once
seemed important to us.
UK’s
John Mitchell is the “Lonely Robot” who follows with “In Floral Green” taken
from his April 2017 album “The Big Dream”. A captivating song that examines our
disconnectedness with each other and our feelings of isolation in these modern
times.
Parker BOMBSHELL follows with
“Dust taken from their 2014 EP “Hours Down”. “Dust” is our origin and our
destiny yet while we live on the Earth we are conscious beings trying to stave
off our own destruction in our everyday existence. A great tune and one of my
favourites by Parker BOMBSHELL.
Dave
Kerzner follows with “My Old Friend” taken from his brilliant 2014 album “New
World”
My
Old Friend comes to us in quiet moments, where our thoughts and beliefs
sometimes cross over to a conscious realm where those no longer among us dwell
and connect in our minds...sometimes, those thoughts may also be an older copy
of oneself...My Old friend is that intimate conversation.
And
so, its time for more music to reflect on, as the waves Wash us away in floral
green dust to visit old friends, on the Minstral show.

Sculpter,
artist and musician John Palmer kicks off the second set of music with “Clotchley
Road” a single he released in Dec 2015. The song looks back in time to a
comforting place packed with memories that most of us can certainly identify
with in our own past…for John Palmer it is “Clotchley Road” for me it’s St.
Catherine Street in Montreal.
There
are many Genres present in this really great blend of music that should appeal
to New Wave, Dream Pop, Club Dance, Alternative Rock and Psychedelic rock fans alike
as the song captivates the senses and takes us on a trip down memory lane.
Japanese
artist, Hiromitsu Agatsuma follows with “Yuudachi” taken from his 2001 album “Agatsuma”
This song captures the determination and urgency felt within as we look back on
reality and life spinning away from us. A brilliant instrumental brimming with energy
and the rose called life.
Roger
Waters follows with a live performance of “Comfortably Numb” taken from his
2015 Live performance of “The Wall”…a masterpiece from the past that reconnects
to the present day with a guitar solo that is out of this world…simply stunning
and very relevant.
Darrel
Treece-Birch continues the journey with “Riding the Waves” taken from his 2016
album “No More Time”. In short, this upbeat progressive rock Instrumental takes
the listener to a place of reassurance and positive reflection. A reminder to
us that all that life is a gift and a blessing, so why not ride the waves while
you’re here on Earth.
And
so, we ride the waves and our memories…to process life with all its lessons,
good and bad on the minstral show.

Sweden’s
“First Aid Kit” starts off the final set with “Wolf” taken from their 2012 album
"The Lion's Roar". The Duo is made up of sisters Klara and Johanna
Söderberg who remind me a little of Moma Cass Elliot, and Michelle Phillips of
the Moma’s and Popa’s. Certainly, their vocals are very close as their song
“Wolf” will attest. I’d love to hear these girls cover one of the Moma’s &
Popa’s songs just to see how vocally close they really are…
New
York, NY’s Curtis Williams, Kenny Woodson, Mark Brown, and Nic Bucholtz are
“Raise Hell Over the Summer” or RHOTS for short with an infectious Psychedelic
dark wave rock tune “High School Weight” taken from their 2017 EP, Songs from
YouTube. Hey, schools out and so, “Raise Hell Over the Summer”
Alternative
Rock Duo Hugo Legrand & Raphael Coville from Vannes France are the “Black
Out Mechanic’s” with their song “Stay on the Top” taken from their 2014 - 3
song EP “Unplugged”. “Stay on the Top” is a hypnotic track that seemingly rides
out of a stormy dream state into safety and asylum…A solid tune by Black Out
Mechanics.
The
UK’s James Harker closes the set with “Swanbourne” taken from his 2015 album
The Ebb & Flow. Swanbourne is a very deep meaning and poetic song that wonders
and asks, are we all hidden in time amongst the billions of actors on the
stage, all vying for unique meaning and prescience in our linear history? A
very fitting song to close the set…of course everyone is unique and capable of
great deeds, just go out and be yourself and don’t worry what others think…
