The Minstral Show – (Episode 082)

Welcome to the Minstral Show, the podcast that spotlights the very best music from around the world, made exclusively in the 21st century.

Every year has its character, and that character or ambiance, is defined by its music. Within the ambiance of a year are all its memories and events that we experience, and so when we listen to a familiar song made a decade or more ago, the music brings back the memories and experiences we had of those times…like a tap into the past…all the details from those moments come back as if stepping into a time machine.

The memories generated by music are so powerful, that they can penetrate through the void of Alzheimers to bring back memories once thought lost. A true story and experience I had with my mother in her final years with Alzheimers. That’s why I believe new music is important for everyone, because its important to remember the times we live in…and if you’re a person who loves the spectrum of rock then this program is certainly for you.

As always, we have an excellent line up of music to help process the emotions and current times we live in… from Pop to Rock, folk to Prog, New Wave to Psyche, "The Minstral Show" carries the waves of the future and past by signed, unsigned and independent artists.

And so, today we have New music by The Hanging Stars, Michael on Fire, Pia Fraus, James Parker, and a song co written by David Philips, Luc Suarez and Javier Bayon for a new Spanish romantic comedy called "Te Quiero, Imbécil"

Also included on todays program are great tunes by Adam Evolving, David Bowie, Cale Parks, Night Beds, Constant Smiles, SJ Tucker with a 2020 version of her song 1157 and a colab by Sonic Elements Dave Kerzner, John Wesley, Billy Sherwood, Randy Mcstine and Neil Peart with their 2012 cover of Rush tune, “Limelight”.

Welcome to the Minstral Show, the podcast that spotlights the very best music from around the world, made exclusively in the 21st century.

A new decade begins as Jan 2020 unfolds to reveal the next chapter of music…part of which, will be heard here today through new songs by Glass Eye, The Room in the Wood, Jonathan Hulten, In Continuum, and Agnes Obel. Also featured on today’s program are great tunes by Night Beds, Dino Belli, Tom Moriarty, David Ian Roberts, Big Big Train, Damn the Bard and a brilliant colab by sonic elements Dave Kerzner, John Wesley, Billy Sherwood and Rush drummer Neil Peart who pay tribute to “Rush” with a cover of their iconic tune “Tom Sawyer”.

Incidentally, a charity edition of the Sonic Elements XYZ album is available on the Sonic Elements Bandcamp page.

The album is dedicated to Rush drummer Neil Peart who passed away on January 7th 2020. All profits from sales of this album will be donated to the Gord Downie Brain Cancer research foundation in honor of Neil Peart, so if you are a fan like me, here’s a great way to honor Neil. A big thank you to Dave Kerzner and all the artists who made this possible.

And so, we start a new decade in the spirit of community, as we pay tribute to the artists who carry our thoughts forward through lyric, expression and the ambiance that their music leaves us with when looking back, and you heard it here first, on the Minstral show.
