From
Portland Oregon, “Blackwater Holylight” starts off the first set with “Sunrise”
taken from their April 2018 self titled album “Blackwater Holylight”.
“Sunrise”
is an intricate brew of music genres that swirls into a psychedelic pool of
mystique, thought and garage rock. A Great new alternative tune to start off
today’s episode.
Following
Blackwater Holylight is “Factice Factory” from Lievin France with their June
2018 single, “Extinguisher”.
“Extinguisher
is a new wave / dark wave offering that
reminds of Gary Numan in all its electro mysterious and futurist atmosphere. It
borders on late 70’s early 80’s new wave but is darkly unique with its own
signiture. Good sounds from Lievin France.
From
Dresden Germany, Sir Robin & The Longbowmen follow with “In the Dark” taken
from their January 2016 self Titled album “Sir Robin & The Longbowmen”
“In
the Dark” is a good mix of Heavy Psyche and Dark Wave which best describes the
atmosphere it invokes on the listener…its like being in the moments of a heavy dream
well before waking up. Good song.
Austin
Texas band “Muff” close the set with the title track to their August 2018 album
“Go Gently”.
One
of six great tunes on the album by Rachel LaCoss, Taylor Wallace, Nic
Valenzuela, and Scott Lowe.
And
so, Good music flows in the 21st century with Sunrise, Extinguisher,
In the Dark and Go Gently, on the Minstral show.

Toronto
Ontario Band, Great Lake Swimmers starts off the second set with “New Light”
taken from their 2009 album “Lost Channels” –
Great
Lake Swimmers is built around the melodic folk rock songs of singer /
songwriter Tony Dekker… “New Light” being a good soothing example of their melodic
music and poetic lyrics, let’s us know that Change, is a constant.
Agnes
Obel follows with “Stone” taken from her October 2016 album “Citizen of Glass” -
The music is dreamy yet with an aura of shadow and mystique where poetic lyrics
gently invites the listener to personal imagery…a very engaging song to be sure.
Up
Next is South Africa’s Lucy Kruger with “Heart of Stone” taken from her 2012
debut album “Cut those Strings”.
Sometimes
leaving a place can be a good thing in order for the soul to evolve but in
leaving, there is always someone left behind. “Heart of Stone” is a song about
that experience sung in a very honest and down to earth way. Lucy now makes
Berlin Germany her home and has evolved wonderfully into “Lucy Kruger and the
Lost Boys”…lot’s of great music to discover there.
S.J. Tucker closes the set
with “Storm” taken from her October 2006 album ”Sirens”. The “Storm” signifies our
path in life as the gypsy soul wonders across the land to live life and explore
it to its fullest…Sometimes it’s better to be the River and not the stone.
And
So, change waits for no one as new light shines to turn some of us into stone
and others to flight as we begin new journey’s on the road and in the storm
ahead called life.

From
Black-heath Australia, “Wheat Fields” kicks off our last set with the title
track to their May 2013 EP “Saturnalia” –
Saturnalia
is a psychedelic pop tune that derives its name from the Ancient Roman
celebration held in December to honor Saturn. The song is a harmonic blend of psychedelia
and vocals that certainly pleases the ear. Excellent music by Wheat Fields.
London
UK Band “The Hanging Stars” follow with “Golden Vanity” taken from their March
2016 Album “Over the Silvery Lake” an awesome album by the way, with its soft psychedelic
Americana country vibes and ambiance. What’s not to like? “ Golden Vanity”
Paul
Weller follows with “Aspects” a pre-released single from his upcoming September
14th 2018 album “True Meanings”. This will be Paul’s 26th
album to date which speaks to Paul’s successful career in music. The song “Aspects”
is a reflection of hope and empathy, which are qualities in short supply in today’s
world. Good music and great timing.
Closing
the set is Virginia state’s Chelsea Lee with “Lucky for You” a song released in
2009 while she was still in high school. It’s a wonderful song that expresses
the pains of a break up, yet its sung with hope, bravery and a hidden
melancholy at the same time. A masterful song that sent sparks and excitement
sky high across YouTube when it first came out….and the magic is still there.
However,
her self made video and all her artist links disappeared from YouTube sometime
ago but I found the original video on Vimeo and since I’m unable to track down artist
links for Chelsea Lee, I have included the Vimeo link in the episode

You” is a wonderful song not to be missed.
