Big Red Panda

About: Big Red Panda

Big Red Panda are from the small town of “Ponte de Lima” in the north of Portugal. The band is made up of five friends that came together in late 2013 with the idea of creating a musical group that would gather all of their influences and similar tastes for great music such as Pink Floyd, Kyuss, Causa Sui, Tool, Tame Impala, Red Fang.

After almost a year of non-stop jams, rehearsals and recordings, “Big Red Panda” was born, and so was their debut self-titled EP in 2014. The EP is filled with foot-stomping riffs, swooshes, and spacey trips that will refresh your insides and explode your outsides.

Their music leans towards Progressive Psychedelic influences and is well on its way to turning a lot of heads in their direction.

July 2015 saw the band release their single “High Ride” to rave reviews and will be part of their 2nd EP which will be released later in 2015.

Band Members:

Golden Sky

About: Golden Sky

Golden Sky is St. Petersburg Russia’s “Alexandr 'hzch' Solovyov”. Alexandr’s music is an evolving blend of Atmospheric Rock intertwined with electric guitars, which creates a very conscious progressive instrumental rock. A must listen for serious fans of Progressive Rock.

It all started ten years ago when Alexandr bought his first electric guitar…and the rest as they say is history as his inspired music journey continues to expand and unfold.

“Both music and art are my passions, but music allows me to express my thoughts and emotions in a vibrant way. As life continues to unfold, my consciousness and music evolves with it.”

“Over the years, I’ve broadened my horizons by exploring a variety of music genres, and somewhere on that path, I realized that writing music is what gives me a deep fulfilling satisfaction.”

Alexandr’s first album, "Fragile" was released in 2012, and initially put together to showcase his music to friends. Their positive reaction to the album inspired him to continue writing, and so he did, as he released a more progressive sounding second album, “Negation” in 2014” and then within a year, he released his third album “So They Say” (June 2015).

The progression of Alexandr’s first three albums is a testament to the artist’s ease in developing more complex Instrumental Progressive Rock compositions. Have a listen to his music below and be sure to visit his websites for more news and music.

Ending Satellites

About: Ending Satellites

Ending Satellites is a project that is both musical and visual, whose main ambition is to offer to who may wish to undertake, a journey out of time, within a few moments, in a universe where images become melodies.

At the same time, Ending Satellites is an eclectic artistic entity, evolving around the compositions and shots of Damien Dufour, but also shaped by the different personalities that come together in this project.

At the beginning of Ending Satellites, there was the end of something; to be born in his epilogue, another journey.

~ Francais~

David Arkenstone

About: David Arkenstone

With 3 Grammy nominations, 20 Billboard hits, and millions of fans worldwide, David Arkenstone has established himself as one of the best contemporary instrumental musicians of our time. Known for his Celtic inspired, world beat new age fusion, he continues to create distinctive tracks that set him apart from other composers.

This award-winning multi-instrumentalist has captivated audiences since he broke onto the music scene in 1987 with his debut album, Valley In The Clouds, described by one reviewer as “one of the most exquisite electronic recordings ever produced.” Thriller choreographer Michael Peters created a ballet to Valley In The Clouds in celebration of the Winnipeg Royal Ballet’s 50th Anniversary. David has earned two #1 albums - Citizen of Time (1990) and In the Wake of the Wind (1991). His much celebrated Celtic Book of Days (1998) remains one of his most popular recordings ever. Released in 2000, Caravan of Light was honored as Best Album of the Year by New Age Voice, and Sketches From an American Journey made Soundscan’s list of top ten New Age Albums in 2002. Acclaimed music critic Michael Debbage recently listed three of David’s albums – Sketches From an American Journey, Atlantis, and Myths & Legends - in his Top 30 Of The Decade.

Often compared to Mannheim Steamroller and The Chieftains, David has made over 30 recordings, has toured extensively including performances at New York’s Radio City Music Hall and the Hollywood Bowl, scored dozens of films and documentaries, and composed music for the Olympics that is used to this day. NBC Producer David Michaels, who makes frequent use of David’s music, says “David writes with fire, passion and emotion, all at once simple and complex. He’s an artist capable of constant inspiration.” Adding to his diversity, David has a worldwide following as one of Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft composers including the groundbreaking expansion, Cataclysm.

A musical storyteller, David is passionate about taking his listeners on a journey, creating sonic tapestries that evoke every emotion. Critics hail his music as “full of thunder and feeling, comprised of layers of acoustic and electronic instruments and voices, which send the listener on a joyous expedition.

“A love for travel and adventure is just something that’s embedded in my personality,” says David. “Sometimes I get the feeling that I’m painting as much as I’m composing. I tend to envision a place where I would like to go, or an adventure I would like to take, and I let my imagination run free. I’ve gotten countless e-mail messages from listeners who love to take these journeys with me. I’m sometimes surprised by how powerfully people respond to my music.”

After coming to California from rural Chicago at age 10, David immersed himself in all the music he could find. Spending high school and college in various bands and performance groups, he then criss-crossed the country several times playing popular music. He finally settled down to concentrate on developing his own sound. David has always been inspired by the process of blending technology and music to create a multimedia fusion for producing amazing sounds. By working with state-of-the-art technology, he combines the highest quality electronic samples with acoustic instruments played by the finest musicians including David himself, often adding choral groups.

Technology has produced some wonderful tools for making music. The computer allows me to fully orchestrate my pieces and really fine tune them. I have always loved the sound of the orchestra, and now I believe I have refined a wonderful blend combining the best elements of the acoustic world, with the electronic world," states David. While he is primarily a keyboardist, David plays the guitar, mandolin, flute, cello, percussion, and many other instruments. His impressive collection of instruments includes native flutes, drums from around the world, and harmonium.

David enjoys being out on the road and meeting his fans and is particularly fond of his Winter Solstice concerts during the holidays. "One of the most exciting things about performing live is the interaction I get with the audience,” says David. “It's very different than making a recording, where you're never sure who is listening to it. The communication is complete in live performance, plus it’s just plain fun to play these songs with my friends, and the audience senses that. A lot of the roots of our musicianship come into focus without the magic of studio editing – it's the moment, you play your best, and many times reach new heights, and then it's gone, and on to the next one."

His current project include an epic, neo-classical album – a collaboration with enchanting singer/composer Charlee Brooks – set for release in 2012. “Working with Charlee has given me the opportunity to reinvent myself as an artist yet again. We have created music that transcends what either of us would be able to accomplish on our own.” David’s score for the critically acclaimed PBS documentary Echoes of Creation is one of his most adventurous to date. Domo Records, known for its eclectic roster of world music artists, including Kitaro, recently released Ambient World to rave reviews, along with Myths and Legends, Sketches From An American Journey, Echoes of Light And Shadow, and Spirit of the Drum. Other recent releases include Celtic Chillout, Visions of Christmas, Christmas Lounge, and a 3-CD set tailored to the spa and relaxation market: Bliss, Touch and Reflections. Fans can catch David and the band in concert and at special appearances at Renaissance faires and, of course, the Winter Solstice tour.

Jason Rubenstein

About: Jason Rubenstein

Jason Rubenstein has been writing and producing music since 1995. His latest release, “New Metal From Old Boxes” is a return to his progressive-rock roots with a loud, heavy, energetic and modern suite of instrumentals that evoke King Crimson, ELP, NiN, and classical music.

Written, performed and produced by Jason, it is a change in style from his previous mixed-genre CDs. “I love progressive rock.”, Jason said, “I grew up on it, and I was in a prog-rock band in the 80s, back when prog really was not cool. Recently, I needed to hear new music that carries forward the heavier, 20th-century-classical progressive-rock sound. It was a challenge; nothing felt quite right to me. For “New Metal From Old Boxes”, I just wrote what I felt, and used a limited set of classic textures: piano, Hammond B3, huge drums, Oberheim and Moog synthesizers, and bass & guitar.”

“New Metal From Old Boxes” features classic, loud rock production and a movie-like tension-filled soundtrack vibe. Imagine if King Crimson, ELP, NiN, Wendy Carlos, and Philip Glass got together to score the soundtrack for a heist movie.

Jason Rubenstein’s music has been heard on National Public Radio, NBC Television, Soma.fm, and in the film “Replicant”. In 2000, he was featured in an EQ magazine article “Adventures in Sound Design”, and his sound design was used in ABC’s television series “Lost”. In March of 2014, Jason released an EP titled “This is Not a Love Letter”.

“New Metal From Old Boxes” is his sixth release

Rubenstein, who’d previously worked as a software engineer at Google and at Pono Music, suddenly found himself unemployed in late 2013. He started working on “New Metal For Old Boxes” the next day, writing one song per day for 30 days. “I’d been running the engineering for Pono Music for three years when the whole project hit its nadir. We all got laid-off. The very next day, at 7am, I fired up my home studio and started writing music. No wasting time. I wrote one song every day, not worrying about whether it was any good - I just wrote whatever I wanted to hear. Every day, I literally asked myself ‘What do I want to hear? What am I feeling right now?’ and I went and wrote whatever that was.”, Jason said. “A lot of the process for writing came from the process for writing genre fiction: ‘What happens? And what happens next? And what happens after that?’. Every song tells a story of some sort, regardless of whether it has lyrics. My songs don’t have lyrics, but they’re either stories, or a series of vignettes, or a scene. For example, there’s a story about a heist in there, and one about a barbarian horde storming-in from the steppes. I’m a genre-fiction geek, what can I say. And I didn’t give a damn what anyone else thought about the music. As long as I liked it, I was happy. I trust my taste in music - I figure that if I like it, there will be others out there who will as well.”

The music is heavy, cinematic, relentless. There is not one ballad or slow-moving track on the 12-song album. Even the breakdowns are heavy, like moments of Steely Dan with King Crimson’s terrifying rhythm section. “The mix engineer, Niko Bolas, called the project ‘Jason-R-Schizo’ on the first day of mixing. My everyday personality doesn’t match the music. It’s a divide - there’s my meet-me-on-the-street personality where I try to be as decent a human being as I can, and my musical personality, which is heavy, dark, brooding, angry. I’m pretty sure that if I didn’t make this music, my personality would start to corrode. I’d be a short, angry man yelling at clouds and dogs and minivans.”

Jason’s history is uncommon for a child of the 1970s. He discovered computers at the same time he discovered synthesizers. “While that’s common for children these days, in 1975 both computers and synths were rare.”, he said. His elementary school had an IBM computer terminal where he and his friends taught themselves FORTRAN, a computer programming language. A neighbor owned an Arp Odyssey monophonic synthesizer, and a school field-trip brought Jason face-to-face with a giant Moog modular synthesizer. “When I was 4 years old, I discovered my parent’s stereo and an LP of “Switched-On Bach” by Wendy (at the time Walter) Carlos. It blew my little mind. So coming face-to-face with the type of machine that made those sounds was life-changing. I knew right then that I needed to make music with one of these monsters.” The combination of technology and music came naturally to him, and the local record store became a source of education. He bought and borrowed LPs by Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre, ELO, ELP, Rush, Yes, Jean-Luc Ponty, Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, Gary Burton, The Beatles, Black Sabbath, Steve Miller, Kraftwerk, Bruford, Allan Holdsworth, King Crimson, Brian Eno, Peter Gabriel. Then a degree in computer science, a gig with a Chicago-area progressive rock band (“We sounded too much like Rush and not enough like ourselves”), jobs as a consulting programmer for Fortune-500 companies, and music school at night. “I’d hang out until 4am with the jazz & rock students from school at Chicago jazz clubs. How the hell I made it to work the next morning is still a mystery to me.”, Jason said. Finally leaving Chicago for Los Angeles in 1995 after failing to get traction in the local music scene, he produced his first CD in 1996, and the second in 1998. These were eclectic, downtempo rock/electronic/jazz projects that immediately opened doors for him to produce music for television and film.

It took ten years for Rubenstein to get back to creating music and produce “New Metal For Old Boxes”. “For a long time, I wasn't writing music for myself”, he said, “and it turns out that was a problem. For a few years I was writing what I thought other people wanted to hear, or writing what a media producer needed for a deadline. And the music I was writing had nothing to do with what I was feeling, or with what I loved to hear. So I got away from it in 2004 and started a software company, and then moved to San Francisco, and then had the opportunity to work at Google, and then with Neil Young on Pono Music. It was an incredible experience to do all of that, but now it’s time to have new experiences creating new music. Through all of that geekery I learned to just write the music that I wanted to hear and feel. I need to keep getting it out of my system, and it turns out that I'm simply unable to quit music. A ten-year break was too long. It’s either I keep creating music like this, or I start standing on the streetcorner and yell at the clouds and the passing hipsters.”

Tauk

About: Tauk

The heavy NYC dirty funk 4-piece TAUK is hitting 2014 with their unique blend of experimental melodic prog rock and sexy grooves. The group consists of Matt Jalbert (Guitar), Charlie Dolan (Bass), Alric "A.C." Carter (Keyboard-Organ), and Isaac Teel (Drums). The quartet is currently in the studio with legendary Grammy-Winning Producer Robert Carranza (Mars Volta, Jack Johnson) to craft their sophomore full-length album – due out Summer 2014. Carranza explains, "What's compelling is the raw power of the band, from their light moments to full-out jamming. Music is a language that some feel and others speak – and TAUK do both very well."

TAUK's new album is a follow up to their 2013 first completely instrumental full-length album, Homunculus - a record that received widespread acclaim including an "On The Verge" feature in Relix Magazine and frequent rotation for the single "Dead Signal" on Sirius XM Jam On.

TAUK manages to create a live show experience to match their masterfully produced recordings. The unique chemistry and relaxed-focus of TAUK's performance is undeniable, but their ability to create immensely melodic and emotional music without a vocal lead is what continues to captivate and impress music lovers across all genres. TAUK has landed spots on the biggest festivals such as Bonnaroo, The Hangout Music Festival, Summer Camp, and The Allman Brothers' Peach Fest and has already joined the lineups of this year's Floyd Fest, Blackstock Music Festival, Blossoms Blooming Festival, Rock N Roll Resort, Mad Tea Party Jam, Domefest, Camp Barefoot, The Big What? and more! The band has played in direct support for some of the most respected names in music including moe., Robert Randolph & the Family Band, The Funky Meters, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Lettuce, Dopapod, Tim Reynolds & TR3 and more.

TAUK's chemistry can be attributed to their history. Forming in middle school, a majority of TAUK's members have been playing together for over a decade. The group experimented with their sound over the years both individually while studying at top music universities and conservatories, and together as a band - always working to find their ideal sound. It wasn't until 2012 with the addition of drummer, Isaac Teel, and the realization the band could build a fan base around a completely instrumental act, that the pieces fell into place. Since then the band has continued to push the envelope of their musical vision, creating instant fans across the country on a nightly basis

NOMIA

About: NOMIA

Minneapolis' NOMIA have been destroying the eardrums of audiences throughout the Northwest for the past 8 years with a vibrant blend of ambient guitars backed with an alternately restrained and crushing rhythm section. On their debut full length, Iron and Rust, NOMIA seamlessly merge achingly beautiful melodies reminiscent of post-rock giants Mogwai with the epic intensity of instrumental metal outfits such as Russian Circles. The result is an aesthetic all its own, straddling numerous genres while defying precise categorization. NOMIA’s ambitious debut, recorded and produced by Adam Tucker, manages to be simultaneously beautiful, powerful, and massively loud.
